Dr. Graham is a fellowship-trained hand and upper extremity surgeon at Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute, Jacksonville Beach. He treats the complete spectrum of upper extremity conditions — from the most common bread-and-butter presentations to complex reconstructions that require subspecialty expertise.
For referring PCPs and ED physicians, this means your patients with carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, wrist fractures, and hand infections are seen by the same surgeon who handles complex ligament reconstruction, elbow replacement, and open fractures. There is no need to triage by complexity — send the patient, and Dr. Graham will match the treatment to what the problem actually requires.
All complexity levels are accepted, including revision cases, malunions, and patients who have been told elsewhere that their problem cannot be fixed. Pediatric upper extremity conditions are also within scope.
Making a Referral
Three Ways to Refer
Use whichever method works best for your practice. For urgent cases, calling directly to our Jacksonville Beach line gives us the best ability to accommodate your patient promptly.
Call Direct
Call the JOI Jacksonville Beach line to schedule your patient. For urgent cases or a physician-to-physician conversation before the referral, call or text Dr. Graham's cell directly — he is available to referring physicians and will get back to you. You don't need to go through a message system to reach him.
Fax a Referral
Standard JOI referral forms are accepted by fax. Include any relevant imaging, prior notes, and the reason for referral. If the case is urgent, note that clearly on the referral form and follow up with a call — fax referrals may not be triaged as quickly as phone referrals for time-sensitive cases.
Walk-In · JOI Now
For urgent cases where referral paperwork, insurance authorization, or scheduling delays would harm the patient — direct them to JOI Now on clinic days. No appointment needed. Patients with acute fractures, infections, tendon injuries, and other time-sensitive conditions are seen promptly. Your patient is better off being evaluated than waiting for paperwork to clear.

Dr. Graham makes every effort to return consultation notes to referring providers after each visit. If you need an update on a specific patient, a direct text is always the fastest path — he returns physician messages personally.
If you have questions about a specific patient or want to discuss a complex case before referring, call the office directly. Dr. Graham is available for physician-to-physician consultation on cases where a conversation before the visit helps the patient.

Don't Wait on Imaging
Send the patient first. X-rays from your office or a prior ER visit are helpful, but MRI and NCS are not required before the consultation — we prefer to coordinate those through JOI. Our in-house physiatrist performs expedited nerve conduction studies, JOI MRI is available without the patient having to navigate referrals separately, and we can arrange STAT MRIs when the clinical picture warrants it.
Surgical Venue Flexibility
Baptist system patients have surgery at Baptist Beaches Hospital or Horizon Surgery Center — both keep care within the Baptist CIN network. Jacksonville Beach Surgery Center is available upon request and when insurance considerations make it the right fit. Select minor cases are performed in the JOI Beaches procedure room. Same surgeon, same standard of care across all venues.

For complex cases or questions before you refer — call or text Dr. Graham's cell directly. He is available to referring physicians and will return your call or text. You won't be routed through a message system for a physician-to-physician conversation.
